Don't judge all by a few bad apples

Re: Order # 503G563369 -This was my second time of dealing with Sleep Country - BIG difference. The York Mills Rd branch is terrible! The staff either ignores you or drags you around with distracted pointing to different beds, They need to learn plain old manners and how to treat customers in particular - especially in this branch. HOWEVER, just finished my purchase of a new bed at Karl Fraser Rd in Don Mills. Great experience! VERY helpful! Very patient, dealing with a very senior customer. Bending over backwards to be the kind of sales person we should and have the right to expect - IF THEY WANT TO MAKE A SALE! At York Mills they barely look up from the phone or reading. At Karl Fraser in Don Mills they are enthusiastic and friendly with honest comments about each bed shown. Perhaps they could set up a training program for all staff?

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Two years ago we replaced a mattress that had served us well for ten years with a Kingsdown king-size mattress at a cost of $3,000 plus. After many restless sleepless nights and painful mornings caused by sags in the mattress, we Seniors, decided to replace the mattress. BIG MISTAKE, Upon returning to SC, we were advised by a sales person to call Customer Service before selecting a replacement. We did as requested and therein started a two month prolonged frustrating hassle during which we learned Customer Service was not there to help customers but rather to forestall claims under the ten-year warranty. After repeated calls to CS, an investigator was sent to assess the mattress purchase in July 2021. Using a dubious string measurement that SC mandated, the investigator, without any weight on the mattress, assessed the mattress to be sagging1" on one side and 1/2" on the other. CS then informed us that as the warrant called for sagging of 1 1/2" our claim was denied. The expensive lesson we learned is buyers beware: SC's role is to frustrated customer from filling claims and to never again buy from Sleep Country. After all the back and forth emails and the difficulty in taking pictures that show the extent of the problem nor the ability to show the discomfort when in bed, sleep country will be happy to know I am at the point of giving up. Also, sleep country told me that what is comfortable for one may not work for another, in other words, it is in my head. So I repeat DO NOT BUY FROM SLEEP COUNTRY for comfort, quality or personal service, all we represent is dollars and cents.

Not getting what I paid for

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
So I bought a Sleep Number RV mattress and it was shipped to me. When I opened the box there was nothing but foam in box. After setting on phone for over an hour with 2 people I was shipped another mattress and when it got to me it is the same thing. Just a box of foam. No air bags, cloth covers or pump assembly. Just foam. Now I tried to call in again and it is over an hour to talk to someone. I think there has to be a second box they are not shipping me. I paid a lot of money for a box of foam!

We bought a Temperpedic mattress on July 28, 2020 which was delivered two weeks later. The delivery company snapped a branch on our tree coming into our driveway and did not even apologies' for the damage done to our tree, we were not impressed. The mattress was in a sealed container plus bag which was great. However, we did not like how it slept so having only slept on it a week we asked to have it exchanged for a Dormeo 1 mattress. This mattress was to be delivered two weeks later. On the Monday of the delivery week we were contacted to confirm that someone would be home to accept the mattress on the Wednesday. My husband took the day off to be home for delivery of the new mattress. However, Sleep Country did not deliver the mattress. After contacting them we were told that we would not be getting the mattress for another month. So we were getting very frustrated and sleep-deprived. Not being able to sleep on the Temperapedic mattress we had bagged it up and placed it in the spare room for pickup. We had given our original mattress to our son, so we now had nothing to sleep on. We contacted Sleep Country Kingston and asked since they could not provide us with the mattress we wanted that we wanted our money back. They said that they could not give us the money back until they could pick up the Temperapedic mattress, and they could not do this for another month apparently. So after many issues with Sleep Country Kingston we ended up talking to a representative of Sleep Country. This person said they would give us a discount for our problems and that we would be first in line to receive a new Dormeo 1 mattress around Oct. 10, 2020. Since Sleep Country had our full payment for the original mattress we decided to wait for the Dormeo 1. To our surprise we received a phone call from sleep country that our new mattress would be delivered two weeks earlier than expected. It would be delivered the next day. My husband again left work early to receive the new mattress. The pictures will show how we received the NEW mattress from Sleep Country's white glove service. The delivery person's foot is in the picture that my husband took. The only thing the delivery person told my husband was call customer service. Not I am sorry you do not have to take this or any other form of apology. No they just said we can't take it because we have to take your first mattress the Temperapedic, so we can't take this one. Sleep Country did not call us even after we contacted the Sleep Country representative, we had to call them and wait on the phone to try and explain in what condition this NEW mattress arrived at our house in. We were told apparently the next delivery date for another mattress would be November 17th, 2020. Please keep in mind we had paid in full for our original mattress back in July, and we are now in October. We had to fight to get the money difference back from the original Temperapedic mattress which we finally received this week. We still have not received the original discounted amount back which was promised. Having never received an explanation as to how Sleep Country can deliver a mattress looking like this to a customer's house - As they advertise the White Glove delivery of their mattresses. At this point we still do not know if we will be receiving our Dormeao 1 mattress on time. We have paid for a brand new Dormeo 1 mattress but currently have a delivered used damaged mattress. Sleep Country sells products that they do not have in stock and do not stand by their agreements. I would not recommend them as the pictures speak for themselves. We have had nothing but problems in dealing with them and still have not received the product we have paid for.

Sleep Country - Bad Service and Product
Go find somewhere else to buy a mattress. We bought a Serra IComfort from them for $2000.00 dollars. The one side of the mattress collapsed, and they refused to do anything. The inspector that came out said the mattress had broken down. Not a very reliable company to deal with. C. Ross Their reply was they said it was within 1/4 on an inch of the requirement to replace mattress. I told them that you can't even sleep on the one side because you feel you are falling out of bed. So stay away from Sleep County and Serta I comfort mattress. Totally dissatisfied customer C. Ross

Bought a showroom model...by the time it got delivered to our house it was torn about 12"...called to have it replaced so 2 weeks later the next one we received was actually used and dirty...once again we sent it back only to be informed that there were no more available...we would have to come down to the store for another choice so we did. 2 weeks later the new mattress was delivered...In the process of delivering the mattress they tore the bedroom door off the hinges because they were to *** to stand the mattress on end when taking it through the door...called to complain about the damaged door and got the runaround...still havent seen any response to the the door repair. Never again will I bother with these ***

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience, and the damage to your door.

My own family is running into similar problems with this company. They bought a "brand new" bed, only to find out, it's not new.

And they can't seem to get a refund, either.

Perhaps you might find success in small claims court for damage, and being given a used mattress when you bought a new one. If you try, good luck.

One customer to another, I hope something works out for you.

The little sales girl from Yelm is a lier. She said to put a claim in through Temperpidic & Sleep Country would take it back when we received the new matresss. We went through all that trouble and she said she would never have told us that. WTF? Are people that cut throat in America for a job that needs no skills? What's even worse is the company has USA in their title. Pretty sad for America to have people that lie to keep their minimum wage, no brain jobs.

Its not actually a minimum wage no brains job. Employees at Sleep Country USA make between$16-$35 an hour depending on how long they have worked there and their title.

The minimum for a new employee is $14. They also receive excellent medical benefits, 401K, company shares, and paid vacation.

Its also a difficult job to get. Each employee has to complete an off site 30 day training program that includes passing a mid-term exam and final exam.

The exam includes memorizing every single spec of each bed they carry and more than 50% of each training class does not pass and has to start over again looking for a job.

The people who do pass often spend several of their days off each month studying new product specs, customer service skills, etc.

DON'T PURCHASE YOUR NEW BED FROM SLEEP COUNTRY

We bought a mattress set for $1500.00 last March, not even a year old. It's a Sealy and it's a piece of junk. It's the most uncomfortable bed I have ever had and the most expensive. It's definitely sags on both sides and has for some time now. I am going thru the warranty process but was just told that they have no control over when someone comes to inspect it. Of course it sags more in the morning after we've been laying on it for 7 hrs. I will NEVER buy anything from this company again. I would never recommend anyone going to this store either.

Do not stand behind their warranty!

We bough a $1500 mattress and box spring from them 2 years ago. It is now very uncomfortable and had a 2 inch dip one side and a 3 inch dip the other. The middle of the bed is fine. The box spring also has a 1 inch dip in it. We sent photo's to them, they sent a guy out to review the mattress etc. He said there was over an inch dip each side. Got a call from them this morning and they won't cover either of their products as they are blaming our bed frame! Funny that our frame was fine and caused no problems on our cheap older mattress!! So much for a 10 year warranty. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

Why buy a Mattress anywhere else.

I will tell you why. I bought a $2000 bed. The mattress was totally uncomfortable after just 2 weeks. I was told by the salesmen it was a quality mattress. I spent way too much for the product. I tried to call the store and all I got was a line of baloney. My fault was I did not shop around enough. I would never tell my friends or co-workers to buy a mattress at Sleep Country. I later found the same mattress in Costco for hundreds of dollars cheaper. My advice is why buy a mattress anywhere else? The reason is that you over pay and that they have poor customer service.

Your right costco does sell them for less, but thats because its not the same bed. It's a very deceitful trick actually.

Costco knows that they cant sell beds for the same price as other places. The type of people that shop at costco are motivated by the idea of being a smart and thrifty shopper. They want to feel that they out smarted everyone. If costco sells beds for the same price no one will buy them.

They cant however afford to discount those same beds either. Costco than makes a deal with vendors to provide them with a mattress that looks the same but is not exactly the same. There are only a couple brands who are willing to make this deal with them: Sealy, Sterns & Foster, and Tempurpedic. Guess what?

Tempurpedic owns both Sealy and Sterns. Mind blown.

The Sealy and Sterns beds have the same color fabric and designs on them as the beds at major retailers but the insides are not the same. This is because there are several different coil systems and some cost less than others.

A connected coil is cheapest and is what is inside the Costco Sealy beds. People have wised up to this over the years so they keep changing the name of their connected coils to things like "classic coil". A connected coil gives the feeling of firm support but makes the bed bouncy, creates pressure point pain, and is more likely to sag over time. In a connected coil it only takes one coil to go out and the whole bed fails...because all the coils are connected to each other.

The Sealys you buy at specialty bed centers cost more because they are individually wrapped twice tempered coils. These coils cost more, but last longer, provide better support, motion separation, and contouring comfort. Costco is your real bait and switch store. They sell a classic coil disguised as a pocketed coil by putting the same cover on it.

Also the Sterns beds are horrible no matter where you buy them at. Just look at the reviews they are terrible.

Because they have this contract with Tempurpedic this means that costco occasionally has a online only limited time Tempurpedic cloud bed available for only $1500 which is a huge savings. This particular model is an old discontinued model that Tempurpedic ended up having left over in their warehouse.

It does not have the cooling features that their new ones have. Despite this if you like the feel and sleep cooler at night in general this particular model is a great deal.

Also, here's a little trick for you: go into any sleep country that is near a costco and ask them to price match a sealy or sterns for you that you saw at costco. They will do it, and they do do it all the time.

This means you can get the upgraded wrapped coil for the price of costco's bad classic coil. You just have to ask.

Price matching costco is actually a loss for major retailers but it builds customer loyalty over time plus your likely to tell your friends and family about your good experience as well as buy other items with the bed such as sheets , protection, frames, and pillows. This is why they are willing to take the loss.

Sleep Country

Customer Service is poor. Information on Bed pad or alternative pillows is also poor. Way to heavy for the average person to remove, wash and reline cover. Smell never leaves and after a while it molds and holds you so you can not change positions. You wake up on and off all night with the feeling of aching. Matress was put on frame or base lopsided. Caused some breathing problems. Was treated poorly by several Customer rep's. Told to take a picture of how the bed was placed on bed. I feel I have been treated unfairly and put in position of nightly discomfort.

Sleep Country is a Joke!!

I would never purchase another product from Sleep Country. Their after sales service is the worst, and the warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on.Our almost $2000.00 bed isn't even 2 years old and is sagging to the point we can't sleep on it,and Sleep Country will not warranty it. So much for their so called 25 year warranty.Buyer beware!!!

Boo-Hoo! Can you be more specific? At least spell "mattress" correctly!
